About
THE
DIRECTOR
They said it could never be done without them. But a life shaped by adversity had already taught Winston Brown where true power lies. From a young age, he faced racism — enduring ridicule from fellow students and being told by teachers that he would never achieve anything. Later, he encountered prejudice and abuse even within the SDA Church. These experiences did not break him; they forged in him an unshakable faith in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob — the God who delights in accomplishing the impossible through those the world hates.
Born into a working-class family, Winston became the first in his family to graduate from university, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design. His talent, discipline, and creative vision led to a successful career in Manchester, England, where he worked with some of the city’s most respected and influential creative studios. Just before his career reached its peak, Winston received what he describes as a clear and costly call from God to leave the industry and enter full-time ministry. The response from many was disbelief, laughter, and open mockery. Friends and church leaders were convinced he was throwing away his future. Interestingly, his secular work colleagues who had experienced his Christian conduct daily, supported his decision.
Fifteen years later, Winston’s life stands as a living contradiction to every doubt spoken over him. When funding bodies rejected the Steps to Christ film® and declared the vision unrealistic, he refused to abandon the calling. With no institutional backing, he chose faith over fear, committing to raise the funds himself through creative, mission-driven projects — often at great personal sacrifice. Seven long years of prayer, perseverance, and relentless effort later, the first instalment of the film is now almost ready for release.
This is more than the story of a film. It is a testimony of overcoming prejudice, rejection, and unbelief through love, obedience, sacrifice, and unwavering determination. Above all, it is a witness to the power of Christ to fulfil His purposes through those who dare to believe. We invite you to experience that journey — and enjoy the film.
